My skin is dry and I've been using retinol which is drying my skin even more. So I was looking for a serum to put underneath my moisturizer to provide me with more hydration. I have read so many reviews on these 2 products by Kiehl's where people have been raving about how amazing this concentrate is.
I first only tried the Midnight Recovery Concentrate and it did nothing for my skin except break me out. I applied the concentrate on my face & neck (don't forget your neck! that is the first place your skin will start to sag) at night before sleeping and then added moisturizer on top. I would always wake up with break out. I tried to not put moisturizer on to see if it worked well on its own, but no; I would continuously break out. I stopped using it for a few days to let my skin relax and tried it again but once again it lead to break out. I've tried this product twice now and honestly I do not understand the hype behind it at all. It didn't brighten or do anything for my skin. Kiehl's promises that this product replenishes skin for smoother and healthier looking skin and, well it did nothing for me. The price for this product is high but when you compare this concentrate to other serum's, the price isn't too high but relative.
After my skin calmed down, I tried the Daily Reviving Concentrate and I absolutely love this product! According to Kiehl's, this is "an energizing concentrate helps to visibly correct the signs of daily skin fatigue, improving the look of dullness, lines, and rough texture." My skin was more supple and brighter just by using this product once and I loved that it wasn't too thick so my skin absorbed this very quickly...I hate that sticky feeling after using some concentrates/serums. I even tried this product with mosturizer and my skin looked healthy and soft. Once again it's expensive but comparable to other serums in the market.
I did try both products at once and broke out again. I've come to the conclusion that there is something in the Midnight Recovery Concentrate that my skin does not like. The consistency for both products is amazing and it gets easily absorbed into the skin. There is a herbal smell to both concentrates, especially the Midnight Recovery; I did prefer the smell to the Daily Concentrate (it smelled really nice!).
So far I haven't found the perfect serum for my skin but the Daily Reviving Concentrate is definitely a product I will invest in.
You can find these products at any department store or a Kiehl's store and online as well.
