I used to always look at makeup for a confidence booster until a few years ago. I started working on my skincare routine and really looking after my skin. I have been striving to work on myself and on my confidence. I hated being dependent on makeup to make me feel good about myself and as I'm getting older, the fresh-faced look is so appealing. I've slowly become more comfortable in my own skin, with it's scars, freckles and moles. I think while travelling, it is the best time to work on your confidence and feel comfortable in going makeup free.
Not convinced yet? well here's are some of the reasons that may convince you that going makeup free on your next trip or at least on the plane/car/train..
- Let your skin breathe and hydrate - this is a chance for your skin to just breathe without being clogged up with makeup so much.
- Focus on your skin - add a mist to your face or wear a sheet mask while you're on the plane so you can get an added glow.
- Saves you time - not focusing so much time on makeup can really help you de-stress.
- Makeup can actually ruin your skin - Makeup holds onto dirt and environmental exposures that can result in free radicals, The creation of free radicals can result in collagen breakdown, leading to wrinkles and fine lines.
Waiting until the plane descents before applying makeup is a really good tip.
Not up for traveling bare-faced? Consider moisturizer and sunscreen (or a moisturizer with SPF) the first step of any in-flight makeup routine. This provides a healthy, well-protected skin barrier.
