Vega One is made out of real plant based food ingredients and they have a few different options from organic to sport. I used to buy the organic powder but they have recently changed the taste and i'm no longer a fan. There are plenty of different flavours to suit your palette and you can even buy mini packs (sachets), so you can taste all of them before committing to a tub. One of the reasons I do love Vega One is because I stay away from animal products in my meal, so this is a great option. This powder has no additional preservatives, artificial flavours, non GMO, no gluten and uses organic foods.
The Vega Essentials Nutrition Shake is much like a Protein Shake. It comes in the big tub with the scoop invariably lodged at the bottom. They should really attach it to the inside of the lid or something. You mix it with 10 oz of water or dairy and enjoy. I prefer mine with unsweetened and unflavored almond milk or sometimes I use 2% milk. The only issue I have with the almond milk is that the powder doesn't always want to dissolve completely using my shaker bottle, leaving the overall texture a little chunky. I still prefer it to water as the consistency in water is very thin and the taste is sort of half ground up veggies and half vanilla. I also prefer the almond milk as it adds more vitamins, minerals and calories which is good when you're replacing a meal.
My stomach isn't big on food first thing in the morning whether I'm too busy for breakfast or not. This has always been the case. The Vega nutritional shake mixed with almond milk for breakfast has a wonderful soothing effect on my stomach. There's really no other way to put it than; my digestive system feels very content after drinking it.
The price (and this is true of all Vega products) leaves something to be desired and puts it out of the competitive range for similar products. It is a little higher than most other brands out there but given it's nutritional value, I think it's worth it.
Some people do complain of the aftertaste or the smell because you have to remember it is made up of primarily greens. Also, the powder is low on minerals so it may not be a meal replacement but it is a great form of a supplement. As mentioned before, this powder doesn't mix well either so it may come out a little bulky and chalky but if you do have a habit of adding fruit and veggies in your smoothie (like I do), you won't even notice.
Bonus, this powder does not make me break out like some other powders, which is great.
Try it out and let us know! Happy Friday!
