Here is a look at some of our favourite from the best dressed list.
The Met Gala, otherwise known as the most fashionable night of the year, is finally here. The exhibition—“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”—holds drama aplenty, but the event begins on the iconic stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where guests sweep up the red carpet for their grand entrance.
Here is a look at some of our favourite from the best dressed list.
We've had quite a harsh winter in Canada and I desperately needed winter boots. I bought the short version (like the picture above) of the Ugg Adirondack II Boots recently for winter and it's one of the best purchases! I bought them in a tan colour although the black are really cute as well.
It was between the Uggs or Sorel. I went with the Uggs only because I trust the brand and I found most of the Sorel boots to be too fancy for my simple taste. I wanted winter boots that would keep me warm and were stylish; the Ugg boots were just perfect. My feet are super toasty even during -30 degrees! They are very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that they are a little heavy and I wish they were more lightweight.
I love that you can flip up the "collar" fur and make them higher. I read alot of reviews to go up a size and I went up by 1/2 a size and regret it. I should have bought a size that was a true fit. Try them out before you buy!
There is a newer version of these boots that have been launched by Uggs, called the Adirondack III, which provide more insulation.
I absolutely love my boots and would definitely recommend trying them out!
Yup, the 90's are officially back!
They might not be entirely practical in terms of UV protection but teeny-tiny sunglasses are officially in.Summer is a way off yet but time in preparation is never wasted – especially when it comes to snapping up the hottest trends straight off the catwalk.
Small shades have been a massive hit both on and off the runway - with Miu Miu, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton all giving a nod to the trend.
Like Kanye and Kim Kardashian, you may have already jumped the bandwagon but i'm skeptical. I'm not really a fan of the look and i'm hoping it doesn't stay for too long.
if you’re brave enough, wearing a pair of microscopic sunnies expertly balanced on the bridge of your nose will earn you some serious style points.
Here are some pics for some inspo in case you were thinking of grabbing yourself a pair of your own! Zara has some great options as well if you are looking for a cheaper option.
We are going through a deep freeze in Toronto! Currently feels like -18 degrees (brrrr!). I was due for a new winter jacket especially as my older jacket was too small and wasn't really keeping me warm.. As Canadians, we know it really doesn’t matter if we’re facing crazy blizzards or snow storms, our mission is simple: we want to stay as warm as possible, while still looking as stylish as possible. I was on a hunt on trying to find the best winter jacket for myself and I had narrowed down my choices to 3 brands; Canada Goose, mackage or Moose Knuckles. Before, I go into my never-ending tale of shopping, let's start off with delving deeper in to the brands mentioned above and hopefully will help you find your next winter jacket! Trust me, you will not be sacrificing fashion for warmth!
Some of my basic requirements for my winter jacket was that it has to be light-weight. for work, I travel around the city and basically live in the subway so I didn't want to carry a huge heavy jacket with me everywhere. Has to have a fur lined hood (seriously, it's a necessity!), has pockets, the jacket had to be long enough to cover my knees, the jacket's style needs to be smooth and not ribbed...I didn't want the puffy look and lastly be in black or blue (i'm so basic!).
Here were my choices:
Mackage - With the belief that outerwear is an integral part of fashion, it’s no wonder that the coats and jackets designed by Mackage are super chic. This Montreal based brand has continued to be a celeb fave season after season and has grown to worldwide recognition. The parka I wanted was the Kay-P Mid Length Winter Down Coat with the classic Mackage Collar (see below) - $CAD890
When I tried the jacket, I felt the amount of fur was overwhelming....it was way too much fur for me, I looked like a chicken! I did like that it looked more fashionable and the jacket that comes inside was really handy because if you get too warm then you just unzip the front zipper. Many, many, many girls have Mackage and it's definitely a unique look but it wasn't for me. The fur and the fact that it didn't give me a nice waist line was just a no for me.
Moose Knuckles - With amazing attention to detail, luxury materials and hardware, it’s obvious why Moose Knuckles is so popular. We love their parkas for their durability and stylish take on traditional puffer jackets that are perfect for the chilly Canadian winter.
I checked out the Moose Knuckles, Stirling Parka - $CAD850
I went into the store and tried on the parka in navy blue with white fur and it looked so beautiful! I loved the little pom-poms on the jacket. My biggest problem with the Moose Knuckles is that the jacket is so heavy!!! It was a struggle to just get it on. I feel like this jacket is absolutely great for arctic weather but for the everyday Canadian winter, it was just too bulky. I knew that I would be lugging this jacket around if I bought it. It would be great for the days when we got -30 degree weather but it was just too much on my frame. The jacket was overwhelming and didn't give me any shape at all.
Canada Goose - Founded in a small warehouse in Toronto almost 60 years ago, Canada Goose has grown into into one of the world’s leading makers of luxury apparel. Known for their uber warm and cozy winter coats, this is a Canadian brand you can trust!
I checked out the Kensington Parka in black with a brown/white fur trim - $CAD 895
The Canada Goose jacket looks the most simple out of the 3, which I didn't mind because I was focused more on function than fashion (shocking!) It is a very popular brand and thousands of people have this jacket and I absolutely love the style. What I loved was that it's super-duper lightweight but keeps you extremely warm. I don't know what magic they have worked on this jacket but it keeps you uber warm. I really liked the fur trim on the jacket, and it's ethical as well; which is a great bonus. You can cinch in the jacket from the sides so it gives me an amazing shape in my waistline so I can show off my curves. Also, this jacket was better in terms of it being water resistant.
So to the bad part now; the jacket isn't as long as I wanted. There were other styles that were longer but they were too puffy. This jacket is a little above my knees and I wanted the length to be a little longer. Not a huge deal and I knew I could compromise on that aspect. the fur trim is a little irritating as not all fur is created equally! There are some jackets where the fur looks worn out or tilted but apparently the fur is coded to the jacket so you can't switch it with another. I tried the fusion version of this jacket as well, which is made for petite people, but once again the length was bugging me. It was even shorter on the fusion fit.
I ended up buying the Canada Goose in Black. It was the best jacket that met most of my criteria and I am in love with it! The suspenders built in the jacket are a little weird but I can see how they can be handy. I love that it's lightweight but keeps me so warm. It did come with a lifetime guarantee....not sure if it will come handy. Also, Canada Goose will help you dry-clean your jacket; ask them about it for more info!
I'm so happy with this jacket and it was definitely an investment so hopefully it will last me a few years!

All in all, 2017 has been a pretty fashionable year. That said, there are certainly those fashion trends that have left us scratching our heads. So, before the new year, we’re taking this opportunity to say goodbye and let's leave these fashion faux-pas in 2017 and start 2018 fresh and decidedly more chic than ever before. Here are some fashion and makeup trends that we’re ditching before heading into 2018.
Here and there, we’ll continue to mix in the occasional pale pink accessory, but we’re in desperate need of a break from the hue-of-the-moment, aptly dubbed “millennial pink.”
This retro accessory surely had its time to shine over the past year or so, but we’re ready to return them to their rightful place in the 1980s and grab more structured and elegant handbag shapes in slightly larger sizes.Or take your handbag and cinch the belt over your waist to create your own fanny pack (if you aren't ready to let go of this yet); this was you will be much more elegant than the 80's inspired trend.
I blame the Kardashian's for this! There’s a reason the 1920s brought with it a break from the stuffy waist-constricting trend. Let’s all remember that—whether you’re wearing a Victorian-inspired look or a casual T-shirt as a dress, the corset is just as uncomfortable as it ever was.
If you can’t even fit your iPhone X in your handbag, it’s a pretty good sign that it’s too small. Trade out your micro-mini bags for ones that actually do the job. I love a small bag but the trend of having an insanely expensive mini bag just needs to go.
Another Kardashian trend...ugh! Boots that make it look like you’re not wearing anything at all are a totally unnecessary addition to your wardrobe. Not to mention that, especially in the summer, PVC shoes are pretty much the embodiment of a hot sauna for your feet.
WEIRD EYEBROW TRENDS
From feather-like creations and caricature squiggles to crowns and glittery messes, this year saw instagrammers shape their brows into all kinds of transformations. Pray that 2018 will be the year we just leave those brows well enough alone. I understand if you are trying to show your creativity as a makeup artist but this just needs to stop. Another trend on brown that has to end are, Instagram Brows. Please stop over-doing your brows! It may look good in photographs but in real life you just look scary.
Also we need to leave any weird Instagram trend in 2017. Anything from using a shoe to contour, using God knows what to put foundation on.....just stop.....it's not creative; it's weird so stop.
Under-boobThe side-boob trend gives girls a new sexy angle to work with. But under-boob? Are there any real-life scenarios where you can have the bottom of your breast poking out your top? You can’t really rock up to work with an eyeful of under-boob? Nope, we're not chancing it. Please leave this in 2017.
Just stop. It's really that simple. The internet will call you out.
Also side not for the internet trolls; stop being overly sensitive.

It's Christmas Eve, Eve!
We are going to do a quick round-up of holiday fashion trends to help you dress up for your fab parties! Here are 8 not so basic ideas for switching it up and looking festive this season:
Metallics act as the ultimate neutral on the holiday party circuit. It gives a really nice pop to any outfit and you can either dress a metallic in a monochrome look like Issa Rae above or play it safe, by pairing it with black.
Sequin is perfect for the holiday season! Skip the whole sequin look and put on a statement piece instead. Tone it down with black or white.
Dark lips didn't disappear with Fall. Bring them back into Winter, It can add a pop to any outfit. Just remember to balance out your whole face with by doing your brows and adding a blush.
Wrap it up
You will always notice that wrap dresses are a major fashion trend during the holidays.....we all need some extra protection! Go for a sexy wrap dress this season and adding a metallic colour will live you an extra sparkle!
I love how luxurious silk looks during the holiday season (especially with fur). Silk dresses feel sexy and festive for any party this season.
I know, Velvet....duh! You know I am obsessed with Velvet. You can take the look up one level by opting for a 2 piece (although this is for the brave!). Try taking it into the holiday season by opting for a deep red or green color like Cindy Kimberly and Cate Blanchett or keep it sleek and sexy in all-black as seen on Zendaya.
From your Christmas parties to New Year's Eve, a full-on sequin dress instantly becomes the life of any party.
Leather & Lace
Always a favourite combo! Pair a lace blouse with a leather mini skirt for the ultimate naughty-meets-nice contrast.
For bonus points, try adding some of the trends together so go for velvet and silk together or a metallic wrap dress.
Hope these trends make you stand out on the holiday party circuit!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Black Friday shopping! I've been glued to my phone and laptop trying to figure out where the best deals are.
I've noticed over the years that Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals are much better than the sales on Boxing Day. Usually on Boxing Day, they will have the same exact deal except there were be less variety as most of the product has been sold out during Black Friday & Cyber Monday.
My major goal is to buy winter boots and i'm currently leaning towards Sorel Boots. I just find them to look so ugly but there seems to be no other boot that's reliable during winter. I do have Uggs but i'm finding that the winter Ugg boots aren't high enough or i've read awful reviews.
My hunt is still on! If anyone has any other suggestions then please message, fb or tweet to us! Happy Shopping!
Statement earrings are making a comeback this season, with the tasseled variety taking centre stage. If you haven’t noticed, the tassel earring is the most popular style earring of summer 2017. If you are to invest in 1 accessory all summer long, it should be the tassel earring. Tassel earrings are fun, flirty and fashionable. They really add interest to any outfit even if you are wearing a simple t-shirt.
Tassel earrings come in so many different shapes and sizes. There are the super long earrings that touch your shoulder or there are smaller earrings shaped like fans. Last season's tassels were colorful and bright (think too-cute yarns in shades of hot pink and turquoise), but as we are transitioning into Fall, the fringe-like adornments have a more grown-up edge, thanks to high-shine metallic metals. Now, metal tassels are in and the longer the better.
Try out the metals tasseled earrings for a more sophisticated look while the thread tasseled earrings can be worn for a fun night out. There are so many stores that are selling different variations of these earrings and at ever price point (i.e. Zara, Aldo, JCrew). There really is no wrong way to wear these earrings except I would personally shy away from wearing tasseled earrings with a necklace, as it can look overwhelming.
Another variation of this tasseled look is that the tassel trend has merged into necklaces as well. You can now find tasseled necklaces that look great with a v-neck top. Below is an example of a metal tasseled earring:
I am absolutely addicted to H&M's tassel earrings and in fact I have the earrings shown above in many different colours. Below is an image from the The Green Eyed Girl Blog where they listed some different tassel earrings that are super colourful and fun!
1. Cerise Tassel earrings | H&M
2. Serenite tassel in navy and gold | Anthropologie
3. Tiana tassel statement earrings | Accessorize
4. Mini pinata tassel earrings in mint | Anthropologie
5. Honeymoon tassel in Navy | J Crew
6. Tricolour pinata earrings | J Crew
7. Bold tassel earrings in red | J Crew
8. Tassels pendant earrings | Mango
9. Black and pearl tassel | H&M
It's time to give tassel earrings a chance for fall if you missed the trend in summer. These gorgeous tassel earrings are really eye catching and can add a little colour to any outfit. Have fun experimenting!
I recently wore a poncho for a wedding. It was perfect for a summer wedding as it was super lightweight and airy.
I designed the outfit myself and although I was very apprehensive on wearing white, I think they outfit turned out perfect! I had kundan (mirrored stones) work done on the border and every time I wear this outfit, people literally stop me to ask me where I got it from.
It's definitely something very different. Nowadays we are lucky that in Pakistani fashion you can wear anything you want, as everything is in style; from long shirts to short, from loose pants to skinny.
We would love to hear about some of your creations!
I've recently been ordering quite a few clothes online for parties and different events. Some I've had a great experience and some have been atrocious. Here is a quick re-cap of some of the websites I have ordered from (please note this is my experience which may differ from someone else's):
I ordered a few pieces from Maria B which includes a silver sari, a black sari, a pink/peach suit and a suit in green and white.
For International buyers, here are a few tips:
Side Note: I am selling the pink/peach suit in case someone is interested! Just send us an email. and check out our Instagram page to see pics of the suit.
I tried ordering from the Crimson Pakistan site and honestly it was not worth it at all!
So would I order from them again? the chances are very low.
I have only ordered one suit from this website but my friends order from Baroque all the time.
I would recommend Baroque as they were still more true to the pictures shown on their website. They do stitch clothes for you as well. My friend ordered her outfit stitched and it came back really nicely sewn.
A friend of mine orders regularly from Sana Safinaz and she raves about their service. I haven't ordered anything from them yet so I didn't want to do a review on them but do check them out! Another great store is Khaadi, if you want casual wear but once again I haven't ordered from them but I have heard that their service is great.
Hope you enjoyed our reviews!
